Say “Boo” to the Flu + a Giveaway!

Boo
We're officially into the fall season in Kansas City and along with our great local pumpkin patchesfall festivals, and cooler weather, comes the dreaded flu season.  Check out all the great tips on SayBooToTheFlu.com about how to help prevent exposure from the flu virus.

We've teamed up with the great folks at The Clorox Company to help spread the word (not germs!) about a FREE family fun event going on this week aimed at keeping your family healthy this winter season.  Join us for a fun, Halloween-themed opportunity to educate (and vaccinate) local KC residents about flu prevention this fall!

Clorox will be holding a "Say Boo to the Flu" flu shot clinic that will feature lots of family-fun activities  in Kansas City on Wednesday, October 13, in an effort to encourage people to get their flu shots and stay healthy.  The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Visiting Nurse Association of Kansas City, hosted in the Visiting Nurse Association of Kansas City Parking Lot at 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway in Kansas City, MO 64114.  Families are encouraged to attend and kids can come in costume, too!

The event will consist of a health fair, where the Visiting Nurse Association of Kansas City will do vaccinations and blood pressure screenings.  Local community organizations will be on site, and food will be provided.  From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the KC Wolf mascot will be there!  Only individuals ages 16 and older can get vaccinated, but there will be trick-or-treat bags available to kids, so feel free to bring your kids in their Halloween costumes to play and get Halloween treats!  The cost for vaccinations will be $25 for those without Medicaid or insurance.

We are also doing a giveaway in conjunction with this event, right here on our blog!  Clorox has generously donated two fun-filled gift baskets for us to give away!  These flu prevention gift baskets include Clorox hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, a $25 Target gift card, a trick-or-treat bag with goodies like Silly Bandz and more!

To be entered to win, become a KCMetroMoms.com subscriber here, visit SayBoototheFlu.com and take the vaccination pledge (you'll also be entered the sweepstakes to win a trip for 4 to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando), and then leave us a comment below!  Winners will be selected and notified on October 22nd!

{Disclosure: We at KCMetroMoms.com are working with TheMotherhood and The Clorox Company and have been compensated for our time.  However, all of the opinions expressed herein are our own.}

    Everything is done. My OB has already vaccinated me. My husband gets his done by his company on the 18th. I have to call the school to see if they are doing free flu shots again this year. If so, then I don’t have to take my 2 in. 🙂 YAY!!
