Do you know a child between the ages of 10 and 15 who is crazy about cake? Or maybe they've got a passion and zest for something that they want to pursue when they're all grown up! If you know someone like this, our friends at KC Cakefest would love to have them enter their essay contest where three finalists will be selected to compete against each other for cash, prizes, and bragging rights in a live cake battle! KC Cakefest is a fabulous event that is put together by people who are passionate about what they do. And now, they want to meet some of the young people who want to share that same level of passion and creativity in the form of a written essay.
Entrants should write an essay answering the following: "What are you passionate about, and how can you use that passion to help others?" Essays should be long enough to fully explain the writer's points, but there are no other specific rules with regard to composition. Entrants should be between the ages of 10 and 15 as of January 1, 2012. Completed essays should be emailed (in PDF format, if possible) to: essaycontest@mikeelderonline.com by midnight on January 31, 2012.
THREE winners will be selected and each be paired with one of KC Cakefest's celebrity chefs to compete against each other for cash, prizes, and serious bragging rights in a LIVE cake battle (yes, just like the ones you see on television!) on Saturday March 3, 2012 at KC Cakefest at the Kansas City Convention Center. Winners will be notified by February 10, 2012.
Good luck, aspiring KC young writers!
