Great Midwest Balloon Fest - September 17-19

The first annual Overland Park Great Midwest Balloon Fest will launch September 17-19, 2010. Come to this family-friendly event for a thrilling weekend of spectacular hot air balloons, non-stop activities, delicious food, the Kids Korner, and entertainment. Overland Park Fall Festival September 25
Events will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 25, 2010, rain or shine, in Downtown Overland Park, located two blocks west of Metcalf Avenue on Santa Fe Drive between 79th and 81st streets.
The festival features:
•Johnson County's best Arts and Crafts Fair, featuring 200-plus vendors;
•Three stages of free concerts;
•Free children's entertainment and kid-friendly activities, including moonwalks, an inflatable obstacle course, and other funs options;
•Food booths, offering everything from lemonade and hot dogs to hamburgers, ice cream and more
•Free motorcycle show, featuring new and antique bikes, at the Matt Ross Community Center.
The annual Santa Fe Trail Days parade starts at 10 a.m., one block west of Metcalf at 79th and Floyd. It will go west on 79th Street to Santa Fe, then Santa Fe to Robinson, ending near Overland Park Elementary School on Robinson.
Waldo's Rockin' Block Party September 25
Kansas City, MO
Day long activities include booth spaces for area businesses and associations, hourly entertainment, inflatables and games for the children, exhibitions, and lots more. Complete the day at Waldo's Happy Hour beginning at 6 p.m. with "Disco Dick and the Mirror Balls" performing under the big tent. The tractors fire up their engines each afternoon for the Parade of Power.

Old-fashioned lanterns and carved pumpkins will lead costumed trick-or-treaters through pathways of graves and ghouls at Night of the Living Farm Oct 22-23 and 29-30 at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, 138th and Switzer. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Farmstead. Tickets are non-refundable and good for any night. There is no rain date. From 6 to 9 p.m., families with children of all ages can participate in a:
•Haunted barn;
•Flashlight scavenger hunt;
•Haunted horse-drawn hayride;
•Tractor pulled wagon ride (for little trick-or-treaters);
•Marshmallow roast and campfire; and
•Halloween dancing stage.
In addition to regular concessions, the Farmstead will have grilled bratwursts, cider, caramel apples and glow-in-the-dark necklaces for sale.
