KC Pumpkin Patch is one of the metro’s bigger fall destinations, so this is less of a quick pumpkin stop and more of an all-day family outing. Its 2026 Fall Festival opens September 26 and runs on select weekends through October 25.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Give yourself plenty of time here. With 60+ activities, this is one to make the main event of your day rather than squeezing it between other plans.
Gieringer’s Family Farm — Edgerton, KS

Gieringer’s is a longtime southwest Johnson County farm where families can pick and play throughout the growing season. The farm has confirmed that its pumpkin patch is returning for fall 2026 and has begun releasing its September calendar, with additional October information still coming.
KC Metro Moms Tip: This is a convenient choice for families in southern Johnson County who want a true farm outing without driving across the entire metro.

Cider Hill Family Orchard — Kansas City, KS

🍎 What you’ll find: U-pick apples, seasonal pumpkins, hayrides, train rides for kids, fire pits, a country store and plenty of fall treats.
Cider Hill is a good option for families looking for a more relaxed orchard outing rather than a giant fall festival. Apple season runs from August into November, and the orchard’s current information highlights cider donuts, kettle corn, apple cider slushes and hayrides as part of the experience.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Come hungry. Cider donuts are part of the experience here, and this is an especially nice choice if your family wants apples and pumpkins in the same outing.

Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch — Bonner Springs, KS

Kerby Farm is a family-run patch with more of a classic pumpkin-patch feel than some of KC’s larger destination farms. Admission includes hayrides, the corn maze, spook house and more.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Put this one on your list if you want an old-school pumpkin patch without paying $20+ per person just to get through the gate.

Louisburg Cider Mill Family Farm — Louisburg, KS

🎃 What you’ll find: A 10-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, jump pillow, corn cribs, giant play areas, farm animals, wagon rides and plenty of fall food.
For generations of KC families, Louisburg Cider Mill has been practically synonymous with fall. Its Family Farm covers more than 50 acres, while the Country Store is home to the mill’s famous apple cider and freshly made cider donuts.
The mill is preparing for its 49th season in 2026, but its full 2026 Family Farm calendar has not yet been posted. The current FAQ lists admission of $12.99 Monday–Thursday and $15.99 Friday–Sunday, with ages 2 and under free; because some older pages on the site still contain 2025 information, we recommend confirming the current rate when you plan your visit.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Even if you don’t spend the whole day at the Family Farm, make time for the Country Store and cider donuts.
Visit Louisburg Cider Mill Family Farm
Powell Pumpkin Patch — Louisburg, KS

🎃 What you’ll find: A 35-acre U-pick pumpkin field, corn maze, weekend hayrides, nature trail and a small playground.
Powell Pumpkin Patch is a good pick for families who want the traditional pumpkin-picking experience without paying admission just to enter the farm. Weekend hayrides are free, while the corn maze requires a separate ticket.
The farm says opening day is the Saturday of the last full weekend in September, which falls on September 26 in 2026. Its website header still displays a generic September 28 opening reference, so check before making a special trip opening weekend.
KC Metro Moms Tip: If your goal is actually choosing pumpkins rather than paying for dozens of attractions, this is one of the best-value options on the Kansas side.
Schaake’s Pumpkin Patch — Lawrence, KS

🕘 Hours: Monday–Thursday noon–6 p.m.; Friday–Sunday 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
🎃 What you’ll find: A large family-run pumpkin farm with lots of pumpkin varieties, family photo opportunities and seasonal food vendors.
Schaake’s began as a small 4-H project and has grown into a longtime Lawrence-area fall tradition. The farm is celebrating more than 50 years and grows numerous varieties of pumpkins on its farm near the Kansas River.
One change worth knowing before you go: the farm currently says it is unable to run hayrack rides and encourages families to bring their own wagons or wheelbarrows.
KC Metro Moms Tip: This one is worth the drive if choosing the actual pumpkin is the main event. Bring something to haul your pumpkins — and tired kids — back to the car.
The Patchening — Richmond, KS

🎃 What you’ll find: Nine-acre U-pick pumpkin field, corn maze, petting barn, hayride, sunflower field, corn pit and photo spots.
This one is brand new for 2026. The Patchening is roughly an hour from the KC metro and is one of the most affordable pumpkin-patch outings in this guide. General admission includes the pumpkin patch, corn maze, petting barn, sunflower field, corn pit, photo spots and hayride. Pumpkins are purchased separately at 65¢ per pound, with select minis and novelty pumpkins priced at $2 each.
KC Metro Moms Tip: This is one to watch if you want a classic fall-farm experience without spending $20–$30 per person. The farm also notes that the final approach includes gravel roads, so plan accordingly.
Missouri Pumpkin Patches
Apple of My Eye Farm & Orchard — Platte City, MO

📅 2026 Fall Season: September 5–November 1
🕘 Hours: Saturday–Sunday 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
💲 Admission: $25 per carload for up to six people; $5 for each additional person
🍎 What you’ll find: U-pick apples and pumpkins, seasonal food, fresh donuts, playground and additional farm activities.
Previously known as Alldredge Orchard, Apple of My Eye is a particularly good value for larger families because admission is charged by the carload rather than by the person. Its 2026 fall season opens Labor Day weekend and runs through Halloween weekend.
Some attractions, including train rides and slides, require additional activity wristbands.
KC Metro Moms Tip: If you’ve got four, five or six people in the car, compare that $25 carload admission with per-person prices elsewhere. This can be one of the better deals for a larger family.

Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch — Liberty, MO

🎃 What you’ll find: Pumpkin picking, wagon rides, train ride, carousel, petting barn and dozens of additional attractions.
Carolyn’s is one of KC’s big destination-style pumpkin patches. Its 2026 Fall Fest runs through Halloween, with themed weekends and special entertainment throughout the season. Admission includes a train ride, carousel, petting barn, wagon ride into the pumpkin field and dozens of activities. Children 2 and under are free.
Pumpkins are purchased separately from admission.
KC Metro Moms Tip: This is a good choice when you want enough activities to keep kids busy for several hours. Check the event calendar before choosing a weekend because the themes change throughout the season.
Powell Gardens Colonial Farms — Blue Springs, MO

📅 2026 Pumpkin Patch & Fall Festival: Every weekend September 12–October 25
🎃 What you’ll find: U-pick pumpkins and seasonal farm and festival experiences.
If you remember this destination as Colonial Gardens, you’re not imagining things. Powell Gardens purchased the property in 2026, and it is now operating as Powell Gardens Colonial Farms.
Its 2026 Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festival begins September 12 and continues every weekend through October 25. One important change this year: weather and crop conditions mean there will be no U-pick apples in 2026, although pre-picked apples are available in the market.
KC Metro Moms Tip: If your kids remember picking apples here in past years, set expectations before you go. This year is about pumpkins, not U-pick apples.
Visit Powell Gardens Colonial Farms
Faulkner’s Ranch — Kansas City, MO

💲 Admission: Online weekday admission $16.95 Tuesday–Friday; online weekend admission $21.95 Saturday–Sunday; ages 2 and under free. Gate prices are higher.
🎃 What you’ll find: 30+ activities, farm animals, wagon rides, play areas, fall food, pumpkins and ranch-style seasonal fun.
Faulkner’s Ranch packs a lot into its Pumpkin Festival while keeping a distinctly western-farm feel. Ticketing is limited, and purchasing online both guarantees admission and saves money compared with gate pricing.
One thing to know if pumpkin picking itself matters to you: Faulkner’s pumpkins are pre-picked and displayed for sale rather than picked directly from the field.
KC Metro Moms Tip: If your schedule is flexible, a weekday visit saves money and may also mean fewer crowds.

Fahrmeier’s Farm — Lexington, MO

🎃 What you’ll find: A family farm with seasonal U-pick crops, pumpkins, play areas, slides, a jump pad and plenty of homemade fall treats.
Fahrmeier’s is a more laid-back farm outing east of the metro and a good option if your family cares as much about farm treats and produce as it does about giant attractions. The farm is actively operating in 2026, but we have not found a current official 2026 Fall Festival schedule published yet.

Fun Farm is about 30 minutes north of Kansas City and is absolutely one of the “plan to stay awhile” patches. Its 2026 season also includes some of the latest evening hours in the metro.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Never assume the gate price is your best option here. Fun Farm runs online promotions and flash sales, so check the website before you buy.
Johnson Farms Plants & Pumpkins — Belton, MO

🎃 What you’ll find: U-pick crops, pumpkins, 30+ attractions, food and lots of outdoor farm fun.
Johnson Farms is especially convenient for families in south Kansas City and southern Johnson County. The farm’s current 2026 homepage confirms that attractions open September 11 and continue through November 1.
KC Metro Moms Tip: This is a good one for families with kids of different ages because the mix of U-pick experiences and 30+ attractions gives everyone something to do.

Pumpkin Valley Pumpkin Patch — Lee’s Summit, MO

🎃 What you’ll find: Pumpkin patch, hay maze, bounce areas, petting zoo, play areas and additional rides.
Pumpkin Valley is a family-owned Lee’s Summit pumpkin patch located at Rising Star Ranch and tends to have a smaller, more kid-focused feel than some of KC’s massive fall festivals.
Important 2026 note: Pumpkin Valley’s official website is still live, but as of September 1 it is displaying its 2025 schedule rather than updated 2026 dates. Its most recently published season had Friday afternoon and Saturday/Sunday hours, $15 admission and additional paid train, pony and hay rides. We are keeping Pumpkin Valley in this guide because the business remains listed and its website is active, but do not use the 2025 dates or price to plan a 2026 visit.
KC Metro Moms Tip: This has traditionally been especially appealing for younger kids. Check the farm’s Facebook page for its 2026 opening announcement before heading over.
Visit Pumpkin Valley Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkins Etc. — Platte City, MO

🎃 What you’ll find: U-pick pumpkins, fall decorations, haystack play, picnic space and a tall-grass maze.
Pumpkins Etc. is one of the simpler, traditional options in the metro — less amusement park, more “go choose a pumpkin and enjoy a fall afternoon.” It is a longtime family operation in Platte City. Current business data still lists the farm in 2026, but its old WordPress website is no longer available.
KC Metro Moms Tip: This is one to consider if your priority is actually buying pumpkins and fall décor rather than paying for an all-inclusive attraction package.
2026 hours and admission: Confirm directly with the farm before visiting. The latest publicly indexed fall schedule still shows Friday–Sunday operation, but we have not found a newly published 2026 schedule from the farm itself.
Red Barn Ranch — Harrisonville, MO

📅 2026 Autumn Festival: September 19–November 1, Friday–Sunday
🎃 What you’ll find: U-pick pumpkins, corn maze, sunflowers, corn cannon, giant slides, farm animals, nature trail and photo opportunities.
Red Barn Ranch is a working farm south of Kansas City where pumpkins are actually grown on the property and visitors can pick them from the patch. Its current site lists the 2026 Autumn Festival as running Friday through Sunday from September 19 through November 1.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Bring a picnic if the weather is nice — the farm specifically welcomes families to bring one and make a day of it.
2026 hours and admission: The farm says additional season hours will be posted closer to opening, so check before you go.
Historic Weston Orchard & Vineyard — Weston, MO

🎃 What you’ll find: U-pick pumpkins and apples, two-acre corn maze, hayrack rides, play areas, seasonal food and other farm activities.
This is one of the strongest choices for families who really want to pick a pumpkin from the field. Pumpkins and apples can both be picked during the fall season, and admission includes the farm’s activities, hayrack ride, parking and picking bag. Produce is purchased separately by weight.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Weekday admission is considerably cheaper. If you have a school day off, teacher workday or flexible schedule, this is a good one to save for a weekday.
Visit Historic Weston Orchard & Vineyard
Weston Red Barn Farm — Weston, MO

🎃 What you’ll find: A traditional working-farm atmosphere with seasonal pumpkins, apples, farm animals, a country store and fall activities.
Weston Red Barn Farm has been a KC-area fall tradition for years. The farm says its Country Store and Barnyard are open for the 2026 season, although its detailed fall-festival dates and pricing have not yet been published.
KC Metro Moms Tip: Don’t confuse this with Historic Weston Orchard & Vineyard — they are two separate Weston destinations. Red Barn is a good choice if the rustic, old-fashioned farm atmosphere is what you’re after.

💲 Looking for a Cheaper Pumpkin Patch?
Pumpkin patches can get expensive quickly when you’re paying admission for an entire family, but you don’t have to spend $100 just to get everyone through the gate.
For 2026, The Patchening stands out at just $5 per person ages 3+, with its corn maze, petting barn, hayride, sunflower field and several other activities included.
Powell Pumpkin Patch is another great budget option because general admission is free, with visitors paying for pumpkins and select activities instead.
Larger families should also look at Apple of My Eye Farm & Orchard, where 2026 general admission is $25 per carload for up to six people.
And whenever your schedule allows, check weekday pricing. Historic Weston Orchard charges $9.99 on weekdays versus $17.99 on weekends, while Faulkner’s Ranch offers online weekday admission for $16.95 compared with $21.95 on weekends.
🍂 Before You Head to the Pumpkin Patch
A little planning can make your fall outing much easier. Check the farm’s website or social media the morning of your visit, especially after rain. Pumpkin fields, corn mazes and parking areas can close or change quickly because of mud, crop conditions and weather.
Wear shoes that can handle dirt and mud, bring layers for unpredictable Kansas City fall weather and check whether pumpkins are included with admission. At many farms, admission gets you into the activities but pumpkins are an additional purchase.
If you have little kids, a wagon can be worth its weight in gold by the end of the day — especially if you’re also hauling pumpkins.
And one more tip: buy tickets online before leaving home when there’s a discount. Several of KC’s larger pumpkin patches charge less online than at the gate.
